Data Executive Jenny Kitchen Joins Ecomedes, Inc. Board of Directors
Kitchen has helped transform information businesses from data start-ups to business utilities yielding over $2B in revenue and will help Ecomedes do the same for CRE sustainability and design data
SAN FRANCISCO, March 21, 2023 — Ecomedes, Inc., an impact-aware B2B SaaS solution built to reduce friction for the procurement and reporting of certified building materials, announces the addition of former CoStar Group and RainKing Executive Jenny Kitchen to their board of directors to help the company scale its data-rich solutions for building product manufacturers and the commercial real estate, construction and design industries.
Kitchen was at CoStar for 19 years where she designed and led the company’s proprietary data collection and research processes, scaling the human and strategic resources necessary for its rapid growth of commercial real estate information including property records, transactions, tenants, images, and professional profiles. Her CoStar journey began as one of the first 30 employees and culminated in overseeing 1,200+ individuals throughout the U.S. and U.K. responsible for collecting and maintaining the millions of records relied upon by commercial real estate professional every day.
More recently Kitchen served as Chief Content Officer for RainKing, a B2B sales intelligence tool providing information on technology, marketing, and finance decision makers. She revamped its research process to accelerate growth in new and existing data sets, while improving data quality and efficiency, leading to a successful acquisition by DiscoverOrg, now ZoomInfo.
“CoStar is the most successful prop-tech company in history,” says Kathleen Egan, Ecomedes’ CEO. “We are drafting off the decades of their pioneering work in data ingestion, data organization, analytics, transparency, and network effects. We plan to follow the example of this great company by leveraging data to revolutionize the way building products, which are the building blocks of buildings, are managed, evaluated, bought, and sold.”
Ecomedes’ industry-leading database of 850K+ products, which includes 150 sub-categories of building materials and 100+ different ecolabels and standards’ frameworks, provides buyers and sellers a simplified interface to procure, track, report, and market certified building materials.
"Ecomedes is a one of a kind platform uniquely positioned at the intersection of sustainable construction intelligence and digital product marketing,” says Kitchen. “I am proud to have the opportunity to work with such a talented team of leaders in the preservation of our planet through information and technology."
Ecomedes investors Hamilton Ventures and PivotNorth Capital were equally excited about the addition of Kitchen to the Ecomedes board.
“Hamilton Ventures' single biggest differentiator has been the ability to leverage the depth and breadth of our venture partners’ expertise and add significant value to our portfolio companies,” says Prashant Kothari, Hamilton’s Managing Director. “Jenny understands the nuances and complexities of scaling data-led platforms. She’s led other data-led teams that have successfully scaled up, most notably at RainKing. We’re very excited that she’s joining the Ecomedes Board to help them on their quest to make sustainable building materials an integral part of the construction process.”
“It is great to have Jenny’s experience scaling data-driven solutions for commercial real estate on the team,” says Tim Connors, Managing Partner of PivotNorth Capital. “Ultimately, it is the CRE owner that drives this market. Jenny’s acute understanding of this segment is going to help us meet their rapidly emerging needs related to ESG and digitization.”
